Scorch Marks

Scorching Left by Fire and Blasts

Blackened burn marks for walls, floors, roads and vehicles once a blast or fire has passed. Each is a single still, ready to rotate and scale onto any surface. Put one where your ground explosions went off, or under burning elements after the flames die.

Making the soot blend in

Marks arrive as transparent PNGs, up to 8K for ones that fill the foreground. Set the layer to Multiply so the brick, concrete or asphalt underneath shows through the soot; in Premiere Pro, that's Effect Controls → Opacity → Blend Mode.

How to scorch a wall or floor

Lay the mark into perspective: squash it vertically on a floor seen from a low angle, or skew it along a wall that recedes from camera.
Center it on the point where the blast or fire started, and make it wider than the base of the flames.
For a large blast, overlap two marks at different rotations so the outline doesn't look like a stamp.
Let thin wisps of smoke drift off a fresh mark for a few seconds.
